Wheat Peptides
Wheat peptides are wheat protein cut up by enzymes, sold as a supplement for blood pressure and as a hair and skin conditioner. The strongest evidence on file is for neither: a randomised placebo-controlled trial in 49 people with functional constipation reported about two extra spontaneous bowel movements a week against 0.4 on placebo, and a second double-blind study in 106 people paired wheat peptides with fucoidan against chronic superficial gastritis. The marketed uses have less behind them. The blood-pressure trial on file posted no results and was never published — the record names that as a gap — and no readable trial of them on skin exists.
