Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38
Palmitoyl tripeptide-38 is three amino acids with a fatty tail bolted on so it can cross into skin, sold under the trade name Matrixyl synthe'6. The idea behind it is a matrikine: a fragment of the skin's own support matrix acting as a signal, telling dermal fibroblasts to rebuild the structure that thins with age. Every human study on file tested it inside a finished product alongside other active ingredients — a multi-ingredient moisturiser, a serum that also contained bakuchiol and hyaluronic acid, and a randomised evaluation of low-pH skincare on the skin microbiome. What the peptide does on its own is a question no study on file has set out to answer.
