Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12
VGVAPG is a six-residue stretch of elastin that skin cells genuinely recognise — it is the piece the elastin-binding protein grips. Palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, sold to formulators as Biopeptide EL, is that sequence with a fatty tail added so it can cross into skin, and the strongest single-ingredient study on file is the one that checks exactly that: label-free imaging and mass spectrometry tracking the peptide through the layers of human skin. Whether arriving changes anything is the untested half. The randomised trial on file tested a whole formulation used alongside laser treatment, and the firmness figures come from a ten-person supplier study.
