Omentin
Omentin comes mainly from the fat packed around the abdominal organs, the visceral fat that carries the metabolic risk, and it runs in the opposite direction to it: circulating levels fall as obesity rises. In cell culture it improves how well insulin drives glucose into tissue and calms inflammation in the vessel lining, and that inverse relationship is why it appears in research on diabetes, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease and pregnancy complications, always as a number read off a blood sample. It has never been administered to a person. A low level accompanying a disease says nothing about whether topping the level up would change it.

Circulating levels fall with obesity; in vitro it enhances insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and dampens TNF-alpha-driven endothelial inflammation.
