FOXO4-DRI

FOXO4-DRI was designed to kill senescent cells: cells that have stopped dividing but will not die, and which pile up with age while leaking inflammatory signals into the tissue around them. It works by breaking the grip the FOXO4 protein keeps on p53, releasing those cells to self-destruct, and its name describes its own construction — mirror-image amino acids strung in reverse order. Its reputation rests on mouse experiments in which tissue function rebounded in old animals; the corpus's highest graded rung for it is cells in a dish, clearing senescent cells from expanded human chondrocytes. No human trial is registered anywhere, and the doses in circulation are scaled from mouse work at five milligrams per kilogram.
