Elastin Peptides
Elastin is the protein that lets skin spring back when you pinch it. Elastin peptides are that protein hydrolysed into fragments, and the argument for them is that the fragments are themselves signals: they bind the elastin receptor complex on skin cells, which then make fresh elastin and collagen. One human trial is on file and, for a supplement, it is a good one — randomised, double-blinded and placebo-controlled, testing an oral bonito-fish elastin preparation and measuring the biophysical properties of ageing skin. That trial is also the entire human record, and because the material is a hydrolysate no sequence or molecular weight is held for it.
