Elimination half-life

15.2 minutes (rat, IV) — study. Front Pharmacol 2022; Sprague-Dawley rats, single intravenous dose. Human data now exist and do not displace this figure. A two-subject pilot by Lee and Burgess gave a 58-year-old man 10 mg and a 68-year-old woman 20 mg intravenously on consecutive days, and reports a half-life under 30 minutes with plasma concentrations back to baseline within 24 hours and primary renal clearance; it is restated in a 2026 Pharmaceutics review (PMID 42198317) rather than published as a trial. Two people, uncontrolled, one route, and the review names it as the only human pharmacokinetic data in existence. No controlled human study, and no human study of the subcutaneous route this compound is actually sold for, is on file.

The half-life on file is 15 min, measured intravenously in rats. At the fastest schedule this record states — twice daily — each dose has fallen to under 0.1% of its own peak by the time the next is given. Nothing accumulates, and there is no loading phase to run. The record gives 7 to 14 times a week; the fastest is drawn.

The half-life was measured by a route this is not given by. That makes it a lower bound rather than an estimate: absorption from an injection site goes on supplying the blood after an intravenous bolus would have cleared, so the real curve is flatter and lasts longer than the one drawn here. It is never shorter.

The measurement is not human. It was made in rat, and small mammals clear peptides faster than people do — so this is the fastest plausible shape rather than the expected one.

The rise is not modelled and the axis is not a blood level. No absorption rate constant and no volume of distribution are on file, so each dose appears at full height the instant it is given, and the axis is percent of this compound's own peak.
