A non-protein chemical compound that is required for a protein's biological activity. NAD+ serves as a cofactor for many enzymes.
Why it matters here
Some records name a compound as a cofactor for an enzyme rather than as an agonist at a receptor, and those describe two different kinds of action. Reading one as the other overstates what was measured.
